Born and raised in San Antonio, Dr. Walker received her BA at Rice University in Houston. Upon graduation she received her medical degree at the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston. Her internship and residency in Internal Medicine were completed at William Beaumont Hospital, Royal Oak, Michigan. Dr. Walker acquired subspecialty training by doing a Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine Fellowship at the Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit, Michigan. She completed a Sleep Fellowship at Henry Ford and is Board Certified in Sleep Medicine.
She is a member of the American College of Chest Physicians, American Thoracic Society, American College of Physicians, American Medical Association and the Bexar County Medical Society.
Her special interests include sleep disorders and critical care medicine. She emphasizes the importance of sleep and its impact on an individual's overall health, well-being, and ability to function in everyday life. Dr. Walker is the Director of SleepWalker, a state of the art sleep research facility.
