After completing his B.A. degree from the University of Kansas in Lawrence, Kansas, Dr. Bell enrolled at the medical school of the University of Kansas in Kansas City. Upon receiving his medical degree, he completed internship and residency programs in the specialty of Internal Medicine at the University of Kansas Medical Center.

Subsequently sub-specializing in Pulmonary Diseases, Dr. Bell moved to San Antonio where he entered the fellowship program at the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio. Upon completing his subspecialty training, Dr. Bell taught in the Pulmonary Division at the Health Science Center (UTHSCSA). He then entered private practice with Drs. Holcomb and Andrews.

He is a member of the American College of Physicians, the American Thoracic Society, and the American College of Chest Physicians. Dr. Bell is also a Clinical Assistant Professor of Medicine at UTHSCSA. He has special interests in adult respiratory distress syndrome, respiratory variation in ventilation, pulmonary infections and allergies. Dr. Bell is the Medical Director of Nextcare Hospital and the 2009 Chief of Staff of Southwest Texas Methodist Hospital.
